Product of China...but designed here!!!

Ioffer.com is known for its cheap goods. And by cheap it normally means knockoffs of designer stuff and imported junk. Here we have an American flag. What striked my attention on this flag is what’s written in the lower left corner:

“Designed in America. Product of China”.

Hey, at least they’re giving America credit for designing their flag right?

It's a decoration, I swear

Only in Texas….or I mean China. A Man purchased an American Flag at the Dollar Tree in Dallas and got one heck of a flag! First off, buying an American Flag at the Dollar Tree is the first problem. Seriously, it’s ok to be cheap, but that’s REALLY being cheap.

On his American flag, 11 extra stars. As you can see, the stars aren’t even in the correct position to begin with, they’re angled on the Union. A 61 star American flag….nice.

You didn’t really think all that Dollar Tree stuff was made in America did you?

Change....that card!

With all the money that goes to candidates for Presidency, you’d think they could hire a decent graphic artist that wouldn’t have Obamas head coming out of an upside down American Flag.

Perhaps this is how someone got the idea for the Obama US Flag?

Just a dusting of the floor is all

We can thank NBC Nightly News for this one! Actually, their set decorator to be more exact. This has been analyzed by quite a few people and has acually been confirmed. If you notice between Obama and Sarkoz, the American flag is touching the floor. When on a flag set, the American flag should hang low however had they bought one from a company that knew what they were selling, they would have known to given them a proper flagpole and flag so this doesn’t happen!

I'll rest that there...

You would think the Vice President would know better than to rest the American flag on the floor. But as you have seen from past posts, not that may political figured know the US Flag Code.

Obi what the what?

Oh look, it’s Obi Obadike. According to his website he’s the worlds most ripped fitness model. That’s great. Wonderbar. Well Obi-wan-kanobie, you’re also decked out like a soldier and holding the American flag on the ground.

So I think you should change the slogan on your website to say “The worlds most ripped fitness model pretending to be a soldier desecrating the flag”.

Since I have really no idea who this guy is, hey he may have been a soldier. But you’d think a true soldier would know how to properly respect the American flag. Just a thought….

Us Flag Code prohibits the American flag touching the ground, especially all balled up in his hand.

Take Flight For America

I think it’s safe to assume this photo is from the World Cup? Either way, there’s a few difference forms of flag desecration taking place here. One being the obvious, he’s wearing the American flag which is against the flag rule. But to make it even worse, look at the bottom of the flag. He actually cut the bottom of the flag to mimic batman wings!

It’s ok to root for team America, but do it without disrespecting the country you’re cheering fors flag!

Torn Beyond Belief

In case you didn’t know by now (and every American should know this by birth), when your American flag is ripped to shreds and is no longer a symbol of pride but instead becoming a symbol of disrecpect, you need to retire your American flag properly.

You can take it to the VFW or even the Boy Scouts take part in proper flag burning ceremonies. (note to readers, dont try to properly burn it in your backyard). Let the people who know how to properly do it, do it. Don’t need to see any stories on the news of someone catching the woods on fire attempting it!

According to the US Flag Code: The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

That's love for your country

When you pose for you….prom photo? Be sure to wear your patriotic colors. And in Duct tape I think none-the-less! This isn’t so much bad flag etiquette a it is just interesting.

Born in the USA...and probably a foreign sweat shop

Despite being just about the tackiest looking shoes on the planet, these kicks also help desecrate the American flag in more than one way. Known as the “Born in the USA” Dunk shoe, it’s clear the creative director of this photo shoot was not born in the USA. They should have known better than to place those shoes on a flag!  If you aren’t supposed to step on the flag, what the difference of putting your shoes on it? I see no difference.

The shoes also sports an American flag attached to the top of the tongue. So when your pulling these bad boys on, your tugging on the American flag. When you run through a mud puddle, you’re getting mud on the American flag. WTF was Nike thinking with this!

(as I say that, I remember that most Nike shoes are made overseas so perhaps this is a common mistake of just a companies ignorance to begin with.)

I see OUR flag on the other side.

Flying 2 flags on a single flagpole is one thing, it can be done but never really gracefully on this small of a flagpole. But from what I can gather from this photo, we have a mexican flag flying side-by-side of an American flag. I guess to symbolize “unity”, owever all I see is disrespect.

For one, it is proper flag etiquette to NOT flying another country flag on the same smaller flagpole like this, and especially to attach it to the same hook as a foreign country flag? I think not.

According to the US Flag Code:

No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof: Provided

When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size.

Failed that one there protestor!

A hybrid American flag?

Clearly noone got the memo at any american flag shops to create this flag. It’s part American flag, part Mexican flag. For one, we here in american don’t ever want to see any flag become part of ours, especially in this manner. And secondly, who in their right mind would desecrate the American flag in such a way to almost make it unrecognizable.

Modifyign the American flag is a no-no. Perhaps you should protest that!

Flying it right?

Here we have what is known as a protestor, clearly flying both flags on a flagpole. However proper American flag etiquette when your feet are planted on this soil, is to NEVER fly the flag of another country above the American flag. Especially if it’s on the same flagpole.

Donde esta el respect-o.

I’m going to start here with what’s known as love. A love of both the Mexican flag and the American flag. The part of this photo I DON’T love, is the part of ANY person wearing the American flag.

According to the US Flag Code under Respect for the flag there’s a few violations this can be under:

(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free

(j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.

Perhaps we don’t teach that during immigration classes? I have nothing against any immigrant wanting to become a citizen of the United States. It’s a great country! I do have a problem with anyone not respecting the American flag (as though thats not obvious from this website).

Fly away...to another country!

Last of the Ke$ha flag desecration week……we end it with a wonderful shot from a live performance where shes proudly sporting the American Flag as a cape. The US Flag Code prohibits this, as you are never to wear the American Flag as any form of apparel.

I think after this week one thing is for sure, Ke$ha may love the flag, but has no clue on how to properly respect it. Perhaps she should go overseas and perform for our Troops in that ensemble, her presence may not be so welcomed.
