May the force be with you America

Darth Vader American Helmet

"Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them"

As a well known geek, I must say that Star Wars is by far the best movie collection ever made (excluding Jar Jar Binks). Now Darth Vader, he never really fought for his country I think enough to deserve a flag on his helmet. And I feel if he did wear this, it should come boasting some chirpy english in a calming school teacher voice saying “now luke honey, I am your father do you understand.”

This helmet was on display with many others shnazzed up by artists at the Star Wars IV Celebration festival in Los Angeles. The name of this helmet is “This is not what I had in mind.” I wonder if Betsy Ross had this in mind when she sewed up the American flag. That Luke’s father would soon sport the colors of Old Glory?

I have to say I give it an A+++ for creativity, but the American flag still should never be painted onto something, especially Vader’s helmet! It’s once again, against U.S. Flag Code.

From the mouth of Lord Vader himself….”Impressive, most impressive”.

  1. Again, it’s not an American flag. It is REPRESENTATIVE of the American flag, and it certainly has that American flag feel to it, but because it doesn’t follow the strict definitions of what an American flag is, Vader could wear it proudly, and without breaking any rules or codes.

    • According to the Flag Code, a flag is anything “by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag.”

The words “flag, standard, colors, or ensign”, as used herein, shall include any flag, standard, colors, ensign, or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America.

Therefore, a flag includes any representation of it of any substance, with stars and stripes of any number. This would include T-shirts and ties.

The Flag Code states that the flag should never be worn. (Section 8d): “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel.”
